I'd trade him for a 2/3 D man in a heart beat
- sbroads24

Part of the reason he is playing all of these minutes is because the franchise guy doesn't play well in his own zone and gets kicked out of almost every faceoff he is about to take let alone win one....

Niether has O'Reilly this season

O'Reilly gets tough minutes, no doubt, but interesting fact, he gets more Offensive zone starts per 60 than.....Auston Matthews

Players with less O zone starts than ROR

Auston Matthews
William Nylander
Niklas Backstrom
Richard Rackell
Brandon Dubinsky
Tyler Johnson
Ales Barkov
Nazem Kadri
Jordan Staal
Eric Staal

I was stating before the season that Matthews wasn't ready to be a top 5 player yet

I take that back

I just finished leftovers for lunch.

But I'm going to the store later for pierogies. You planted a seed.

I went round and round with Fitz about this.

ROR gets a ton of offenisve minutes and advantages

He's on #1 PP, always on the ice in the last minute if we need a goal.

He's 78th in offensive zone starts per 60.

Easier deployment than Auston Matthews

- sbroads24

Break it down between Eichel and ROR

I'm not the one that brought up the shots per 60 stats between the two of them.

You started the comparison but you won't do the breakdown between the two of them because it doesn't fit your narrative.

Fact:

ROR has 1 less point than Eichel

Fact:

ROR has 2 more goals than Eichel

Fact:

Both guys see the ice at the end of the game when they're down a goal

Fact:

Eichel has a 60.8% offensive zone start at even strength
ROR has 37.4% offensive zone start at even strength

Fact:

ROR is averaging 20:28 per game this season
Eichel is averaging 20:42 per game this season

So why is ROR getting slammed here?

None of the above matters when you're the one comparing Eichel and ROR

"And it's time for the goal-song to go the way of the "turd burger" third jersey they had a couple years back."

See, this is what I hate.

Salmmed = saying I would trade him for a good player at a position we desperately need.

ROR is a good player. But he's used more than he should be, and isnt' as good as some make him out to be

ok, time for a serious post now

Botts and Housley want to run a fast pace team
Clearly we don't have the horses in the stable to provide that now

Eichel, probably
Kane, probably but will most likely be traded

Ror
Okposo
Reinhart
Larsson

I don't think any of them fit the criteria

I didn't count Moulson or Pommer because we stink so bad now, they will have moved on when/if we are ever good again

I was wondering if anyone would ever go after Jack Eichel for his indifferent and quite frankly, lousy play over the last month. Two goals and three wins in the last month. Not living up to that $10M per year contract.

What does the writer think about Jack skipping yesterday's "optional" skate? Surely, the face of the franchise, the future captain, the ten million dollar man has to show up to help lead the team back from despair? It does seem more of the same. No leadership or accountability from the franchise player. Who is to blame this time? I guess that's why they are 30th and falling

didn't like that from the beginning and it sounds dumber with each listen (which, sadly, isn't very often)

same case can be made for 17 or 18 of the 20 players dressed each night though

right now Kane is producing at expectation
and pouliot

that's about it

I don't really care what you hate

What I hate is when you start comparing Eichel and ROR and then start throwing in players for other teams.

BTW Auston Matthews offensive zone starts on even strength is 49.5% way more than ROR's

Since you know special teams don't matter much to you...

ROR will never be close to as good as Jack Eichel.

Not now, not ever.

Teams focus on shutting down Jack Eichel. They do not grant the same courtesy to Ryan O'Reilly.

While true is does absolutely zero to help your argument

Especially when O'Reilly is sent out to stop the other teams top lines

Everyone we have is so awesome. So we are sitting in 30th place

Don't really know what else to say anymore.

No one wants to trade anyone, no one is really overpaid. 30th is acceptable

this writer thinks that the soon to be $10m man isn't holding up his end of the bargain...he's playing incomplete games and making poor decisions...he still has that speed, still has the shot, still has the vision, but hasn't matured yet

My argument is that Eichel is better, and shouldn't be compared to ROR.

Your argument is the offensive zone starts, mine is that Eichel faces the ROR's of the world on most shifts
